Following the victory on the weekend, Port Vale are back in action tonight as they entertain Rochdale at Vale Park.
The Valiants picked up a first win of the season on Saturday, thanks to goals coming from Anton Forrester and Remie Streete.
It was also a second clean sheet in as many games for Bruno Ribeiro’s side that have got off to a good start in League One.
Next up is The Dale and Ribeiro insists it will be a difficult game, but if they work as hard as they did against Southend, then it could be another good result.
He said: “It is a very important game for us, it will be a hard game, but we will keep working.
“If we have the same attitude as we did against Southend and improve a little bit more heading into the game then we can win.”
During the game against Southend, there were injury concerns for Rigino Cicilia, Paulo Tavares and Jerome Thomas, which meant there was no opportunity for Alex Jones to make his debut.
Bruno was full of praise for Jerome, who played on through the pain barrier and also hinted that the fans may see a glimpse of Jones against Rochdale.
He added: “Jerome came off because on Thursday he felt some pain on the leg and he did fantastic, he wants to play for me and the club and the supporters.
“Also, we will go for the strikers we have maybe some of them might be tired but we will see and if we have to change one or two we will.
“Next Tuesday maybe Alex Jones can play, but unfortunately due to the injuries he wasn’t able to come on, but he brings something different and is a goal scorer.”
