Port Vale defender Ben Purkiss has been named in the Football League Paper’s team of the day for his performance against Gillingham.
The 32-year-old was deployed as a wing back by Rob Page in the 2-0 win and provided two assists for his teammates – one for Ajay Leitch-Smith and the other for Carl Dickinson.
That moved the full back up to third in the Club’s assists table so far this season with four, behind only Sam Foley and Louis Dodds.
The game marked Purkiss’ 42nd appearance in Vale colours since his summer switch from fellow Sky Bet League One side Walsall.
