Derby Day Delight For Dodds

Forward Louis Dodds was delighted to play a starring role in Port Vale’s derby day win over Crewe Alexandra.

The 29-year-old scored twice and assisted the other in an emphatic 3-0 victory, which condemned the Railwaymen to relegation to League Two.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD after the match, the man-of-the-match said the three points were well deserved.

“We’re delighted because we set out to get three points and I think we had the majority of the play and we had the best chances,” he commented.

“Sometimes you get that in derby games where it’s very scrappy but we would have been delighted with a one-nil off someone’ backside but to get three-nil in a local derby, we’re absolutely delighted with it.

He added: “It’s fantastic for everyone connected with it, you could feel the passion from the fans before the game.

“It was nice to get on the score sheet and send them home happy and hopefully they’ll come back next week.”
