Wigan Athletic extended their unbeaten run to ten games as they beat Rochdale 2-0 at Spotland Stadium in the early kick-off.


Jason Pearce headed the Latics in front before Michael Jacobs added another after the break to seal the three points.


Gillingham returned to the summit of the League One table with a convincing 3-1 win over Bury at Priestfield.


Leon Clarke did give the Shakers an early lead but Dominic Samuel equalised before John Egan put the Gills in front. Emmanuel Osabade’s impressive individual effort completed the victory.


Coventry City’s Jacob Murphy bagged a brace against former club Colchester United to ensure the Sky Blues came from behind to beat the U’s away from home.


Macauley Bonne had given the hosts the lead but Murphy completed a quick-fire double in the space of eight minutes to turn the game on its head. Marc-Antoine Fortune sealed the three points in the 49th minute.


Sheffield United came from 2-0 down at home to Southend United to draw 2-2. Ryan Leonard and Jack Payne gave the away side a substantial advantage.


But goals from Jose Baxter and former Vale defender Neill Collins ensured the spoils were shared.
