Page Pleased Players Stuck To Game Plan

Port Vale manager Rob Page was pleased his players stuck to the game plan on Thursday evening against Maidenhead United.

The Valiants fell behind to the non-league outfit early in the game but stuck to their guns and emerged as 3-1 winners.

A Michael O’Connor header and a brace from Ajay Leitch-Smith ensured their safe passage through to the second round of the FA Cup.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD after the game, Page said: “We knew they’d tire understandably we are the professional outfit at the end of the day.

“We knew that if we stuck by it we would grow into the game and the game would become a bit more expansive then.

“Delivery into the box improved as well second half and Ajay was fantastic again and he could have had a hat-trick.”
