Kelly: ‘I Have Had To Be Patient’

Port Vale winger Sam Kelly felt his patience had paid off after he scored a goal and bagged himself an assist on his return to action.

The 22-year-old hadn’t featured for the first team since August but was picked from the start by manager Rob Page against Chesterfield.

He certainly repaid the boss’ faith as he had a hand in the Valiants’ opening two goals at Vale Park to sink Dean Saunders’ side.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD after the match, Kelly said he was pleased all his hard work in training had come to fruition.

“I have had to be patient,” he commented. “I’ve been giving the gaffer a problem, well in my opinion, in training but I’ve been patient.

“I’ve been doing the work off the pitch on the training pitch and I’d like to think that I’ve proved my point today.”
