Port Vale striker Ajay Leitch-Smith is hoping for a run of games in the side after starting up front against Shrewsbury Town.
Louis Dodds and Michael O’Connor both scored in the second half to seal three points for the Valiants in Sky Bet League One.
Leitch-Smith was given the nod by manager Rob Page in the absence of suspended teammate Uche Ikpeazu.
The former Crewe Alexandra man grabbed his chance with both hands and linked up well with the likes of Dodds, Byron Moore and Colin Daniel.
Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD following the game, Ajay said he was pleased to have been part of the victory and gave a verdict on his own performance.
“I think I did alright,” he commented. “I was quite pleased with my performance but a goal would have been nice.
“Hopefully I can keep my place in the team now, get a run of games so I’m happy but a little bit disappointed I didn’t get a goal.”
