New Assistant Manager to be announced soon

Backroom shake-up paves the way for new Assistant and new goalkeeping coach

Rob Page revealed yesterday he intends to make changes to his backroom staff and says he hopes to announce a new assistant manager and a new goalkeeping coach within the next couple of weeks.

Unable to make changes when first appointed as Vale boss because of budget restraints, Page can start from scratch this summer and has already made moves to bring in fresh faces.

He says: “Roles will change and that is regards to the coaching staff as well. When I took over I couldn’t bring any staff in, the budget was spent and I couldn’t bring any staff in, but that is going to change.

“Roles and responsibilities are going to change within the club and there will be more announcements within the next couple of weeks.

“I will be bringing in somebody who has got a wealth of experience within that field of coaching, and that will be somebody as an assistant I can lean on.

“Importantly for me, when you are in that technical area sometimes it can be a lonely place and to have somebody who you can bounce things off and throw ideas at and have them bounce them back at you is imperative.

“Deano and Grewy have been fantastic, don’t get me wrong, but when you have got the opportunity to put your own stamp on it, then that’s what I have been waiting for.”
