New signing Ben Purkiss is looking forward to being part of the progression at Port Vale next season.
The 31-year-old, who joined the club on a two-year deal on Wednesday, is already excited to link up with his new teammates in pre-season training next week.
The former Walsall defender said he was convinced to sign for Vale after speaking to Rob Page and former manager Martin Foyle – who he played under at York City.
Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player, Purkiss was clearly persuaded by the positive things he had heard about the club and is now targeting a successful 2015/16.
“I think speaking to the gaffer, I also spoke to Martin Foyle, who is a former manager of mine, and he almost waxed lyrical about the club,” he said.
“He said what a great club it is, the potential it has and I think there’s opportunity for the gaffer to put his own stamp on things for the forthcoming season.
“We’ll be looking to progress and do as well as we can in every game and see where that takes us.”
