Port Vale’s first home pre-season friendly of 2015/16 will see recently relegated Notts County make the trip to Vale Park.
Name:Notts County Football Club
Founded: 1862
Stadium: Meadow Lane
Manager: Ricardo Moniz
Date of match: Tuesday 21st July, kick-off 7.30pm
The Magpies were consigned to the drop on the final day of the Sky Bet League One season.
They went into the last match of the campaign as one of a few clubs facing the possibility of relegation and their loss to Gillingham, coupled with Colchester United’s win over Preston North End, condemned them to League Two.
Manager Ricardo Moniz had signed a three-year contract with the club just one month earlier having previously had spells in charge at Red Bull Salzburg and TSV 1860 Munchen.
This summer former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll has signed a new contract at Meadow Lane following an impressive debut campaign with the club.
The Magpies also have ex-Leeds United forward Alan Smith in their ranks, though the former England international has moved into midfield in recent years.
Vale and County exchanged blows last season with each side winning at the other’s ground. The Magpies triumphed 2-0 at Vale Park thanks to goals from Gary Jones and Liam Noble.
The Valiants returned the favour at Meadow Lane with an impressive performance and a 1-0 victory with winger Mark Marshall scoring the all-important winner.
