Page Pleased With Comfortable Win In Pre-Season Opener

Port Vale manager Rob Page was pleased to come away from the first pre-season friendly of 2015/16 with a comfortable win and a clean bill of health.

Colin Daniel, Michael Brown and Achille Campion each scored to ensure the Valiants emerged as 3-0 victors from the annual curtain raiser against Newcastle Town.

Page deployed a completely different starting eleven in each half with the likes of Sam Kelly, Sam Foley, Anthony Grant and Ben Purkiss all making their first appearances in Vale colours.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD after the contest, the manager was content with the performance and effort of his players.

"We're in this industry because we want to do well, we want to be the best at what we do and we want to win everything we put our hand to," he said.

"So it's great to get off to a win today and a clean sheet and to get the goals we did in the manner that we did it as well, which is pleasing. So overall a positive day."
