Mark Marshall: “Start As You Mean To Go On”

Winger Speaks To Valiant Player Ahead Of Gills Visit

  • Vale face Gillingham at home on Saturday
  • Marshall thinks a win would set a good precedent
  • Winger believes Vale could face tough test after Peter Taylor's departure at Priestfield

Port Vale winger Mark Marshall reckons a positive result against Gillingham tomorrow would set a good marker as Rob Page’s side head into the second half of the season.

The Valiants face the Priestfield Stadium outfit on Saturday at Vale Park, kick-off 3pm, in their first fixture of 2015.

Gillingham parted ways with manager Peter Taylor earlier this week but Marshall says Vale should be wary of a reaction from the Kent outfit.

Speaking to Valiant Player ahead of the game, the 27-year-old midfielder admitted a victory would be the perfect way to start the New Year.

“You know what they say, start as you mean to go on,” he said.

“I’m pretty sure that if we get a victory tomorrow then that could set a platform for us to kick on for the rest of the season.”
