Captain Talks To Valiant Player Ahead Of Barnsley Clash

  • Vale head to Oakwell to face Barnsley on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
  • Dickinson played for the Tykes during 2009/10 season.
  • Defender looking forward to taking on former employers.

Port Vale captain Carl Dickinson is relishing the prospect of facing former club Barnsley this weekend as Rob Page’s side look to get back to winning ways.

The 27-year-old spent the best part of a season at Oakwell, on loan from Stoke City, during the tenure of Mark Robins.

He scored his first Football League goal while with the Tykes but an injury meant he missed the last couple of months of the 2009/10 campaign.

Speaking to Valiant Player ahead of his return to Oakwell, Dickinson admitted he enjoyed his time there and is looking forward to the challenge of coming up against Danny Wilson’s men.

“I have some really good memories [of my time at Barnsley],” he said.

“Mark Robbins took me there and I felt as if I had a good season there, the fans were brilliant with me so it’s always a good place to go back to.”
