It was a bitter sweet afternoon for Rob Page as his Port Vale side drew at home with Gillingham on Saturday.
IThe hosts were the better of the two teams but the visitors took the lead through a mistake from Jak Alnwick leading to an in-direct free kick which was smashed home by Bradley Dack.
Louis Dodds grabbed the equaliser after some superb link-up play from Byron Moore.
Following the match, Page explained to Valiant PlayerHD that he was pleased with the first half performance but not the second.
“We’ve come in and were disappointed with a point," he said. "We were up against a Gillingham team, we respected what they did on the opening day against Sheffield United, so we knew it was going to be a physical battle.
"We were confident outside of both boxes that we have the players to play well and out play them at times, which we did in the first half, which I am pleased with.
"Then they changed their formation in the second half and we struggled to adapt to it straight away.”
“We could’ve got the ball wide quicker and earlier, but it’s a point, we move forward.
“That’s three games now we’re unbeaten in and we’ll take the positives from it. But it says a lot about the lads, in a short space of time how far we’ve come to come in at home disappointed with a point.”
