Vale Boss Disappointed With Loss To U's
thinks Port Vale lacked a clinical edge against Colchester United and has called on the characters in his squad to stand up and be counted. Rob PageManager
The Valiants fell to a disappointing home loss to Tony Humes’ side with second half goals from George Moncur and Jacob Murphy sealing the points.
Louis Dodds scored a late consolation but ultimately it was a frustrating afternoon for Vale, who had numerous chances to go ahead in the first 45 minutes.
Speaking to Valiant Player after the game, Page felt his side were unfortunate in front of goal and says his players now needs to dig deep in the last five games of the season.
“I thought, again, we created chances first half but weren’t clinical enough, didn’t finish them,” he said.
“I said at half time, it’s a typical game where we have all the play, we create the chances and they get one and score and that seemed to be the case again.
“I’ve said now, we need characters. We’re in a position we find ourselves in where all of a sudden we’re looking over our shoulder and we need to dig in deep all together, rool our sleeves up and do as best we can to get ourselves out of it.”
