Ryan McGivern Pleased To Be Involved In Northern Ireland’s Win Over Greece

Vale Defender Discusses Time Away

Port Vale defender Ryan McGivern was pleased to get some game time in Northern Ireland’s 2-0 win over Greece on Tuesday and is now looking forward to this weekend’s trip to Preston North End.

The 24-year-old came on as a second half substitute at Karaiskakis Stadium, where Kyle Lafferty and Jamie Ward each scored to earn Northern Ireland an impressive victory against Claudio Ranieri’s outfit.

The result leaves Michael O’Neill’s side top of Group F after three games and with a real chance of qualification for the 2016 European Championships.

Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player, McGivern admitted it was fantastic to play a part in the famous win.

“It felt really good to be back playing and I was just really glad I could do my bit to help the team get the three points,” he said.

“It’s obviously a great honour to play for your country so I’m just glad to be back involved and to get some game time was an added bonus.”
