Bucket Collections

Please give generously to two worthwhile causes

Before Saturday’s game against Leyton Orient here at Vale Park, you will notice two separate ‘bucket collections’ taking place. We realise it is a lot to ask, but anything you can contribute to both causes would be greatly appreciated.

REMEMBRANCE DAY

Let us not forget the many thousands of people who have given their life for our country, in two World Wars and other conflicts, along with member of the forces who continue to play their part in ensuring the safety of British citizens both here and abroad. Collections are taking place around the ground for Remembrance Day -  please give generously to show your appreciation.

'GMB WHITE RIBBON CAMPAIGN'

The GMB Trade Union is proud to be working in partnership with Port Vale FC in promoting the White Ribbon Campaign to raise awareness of and stamp out Domestic Violence. It is a proven and shameful statistic that two women die each week in the UK at the hands of a former or existing partner. It is also a fact that incidents of domestic violence increased by 25% during the 2010 World Cup, after England matches. Domestic violence is very often hidden and the victims feel they have to keep it secret to avoid further abuse and because of a feeling of shame. The only way to tackle this abuse is to make it known, someone you and I know will either be a victim of physical and/or mental abuse or will in fact be a perpetrator of violence towards women.

In the 21st Century this must not be allowed to continue, the GMB in promoting the White Ribbon Campaign is asking supporters to purchase a ribbon donating a minimum of £1.00 but up to as much as supporters wish. All money raised will be donated to charities in the locality linked towards domestic violence issues such as women's refuges. Please donate as generously as you can and help us to eradicate this terrible abuse.
