Rob Page Not Worried By Defensive Absences

Vale Boss Talks Prior To Rochdale Game

Port Vale manager Rob Page isn’t worried about his defensive options heading into this weekend’s game against Rochdale – despite the absence of Ryan McGivern and Richard Duffy.

The Valiants welcome Keith Hill’s side, who currently sit in the Sky Bet League One play-off places, to Vale Park on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

McGivern and Duffy are both unavailable, while Newcastle United recalled young centre back Remie Streete from his loan on Wednesday.

Speaking to Valiant Player, Page insisted he has faith in the players at his disposal and said he is pleased with the depth of his squad.

“The likes of Freddie Veseli, a Championship player we’ve got on loan, albeit a full back, he can play midfield, he can play centre half,” he said.

“Yates can play left back, Robbo is capable of coming in and holding his own, he has proved it at this level and the level below for a couple of seasons now.

“Dicko, obviously the captain, we’d left out and it’s an opportunity for him to come back in and impress so we’ve got enough strength there and depth.”
