Gaffer happy with a point

Micky pleased with performance against Stevenage

Micky Adams was pleased with the way his team performed against Stevenage on Saturday and, following the defeat at Ashton Gate earlier in the week, was happy with the point.

The Vale boss said: “I think we had enough chances and got into enough areas to have caused them a few more problems.

“I was pleased with the commitment of the side to a man they stood up to the physical bombardment that we got and I felt we created the better chances.

“I think we put a lot of effort into a 5-0 defeat at Bristol City, physically and mentally, and I felt coming here we needed to be a little bit fresh. We had the options and I used them.

“All in all I think the point suits us better than them, that’s for sure.

“It has been a tough week. A lot has been said and the media have made a mountain out of a molehill as they do, but we stuck together, that is the important thing. We have responded to the criticism we have received.

“And whether it was right or wrong I will let other people judge that after our performance at Bristol City. But the one thing about us is we never give up.

“Even if we are losing 5-0 I don’t ever see us throw the towel in.

“I think we keep going.  It can’t be levelled at us that we quit on games, we keep going right to the death.

“It has been a difficult week for us but we have come through it with a point at the end of it and I am pleased with that.“
