Doug Loft pre-match chat

Skipper expecting another tough fixture on Sunday

Doug Loft is predicting another tough encounter when Vale take on Coventry City at the weekend and says he rates the Sky Blues highly.

Vale have eleven games left to the end of the season and Vale will be looking to add to their already impressive tally for their first season back in League One.

Loft says: “We want to get as many points as we can. We have got some very hard games coming up and I think if we play like we did the other day we should do alright and should get some good points on the board.

”Coventry started the season on fire and they gave us a good game here earlier on in the season, but we are expecting a tricky game.

“It was a good game at our place and Chris Birchall got the winner, so another result like that would be nice.

“They have got a good side on paper and they are strong. They started the season on minus points so you can see how well they have done to get where they are.

”They are a very hard side to play against and I think they are one of the best sides in the league to be honest with you and they should probably have more points than they have.

On a personal note, the Vale skipper has targeted enough goals to take him to double figures for the season and he isn’t too far off at the moment.

He said: “I feel like I have been playing well, I am enjoying my football and hopefully it will continue.

“I should have scored the other day and would have done if I could head the ball properly, but I am keen to get as many goals as I can and I am confident I can get over the ten mark for the season.

“That is my aim and I think I can do it. If I get chances I have got to take them and I feel like I could have had a couple the other day, so I am disappointed with that.”
