Fixtures Preview: Crewe Alexandra (A)

A look at the most anticipated matches this coming season

One of the most highly anticipated matches of the season is the away fixture down the road at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday 13th September which will be a fiery affair with both teams vying for bragging rights in the area.

Crewe will be looking to improve on last season when they narrowly avoided relegation into League Two. This will be Crewe’s third season back in League One after getting promoted via the play-offs back in 2012 and will want to establish themselves as a mainstay in the league.

Crewe are well-known for putting faith in their youth system which has brought up such players as Nick Powell and Ashley Westwood over recent years. This will however mean that they will maybe look to up-coming youth players instead of buying in players this summer.

Last seasons top scorer Chuks Aneke, who has spent two seasons on loan at Gresty Road, was released from his parent club Arsenal this summer and has moved to Belgian club SV Zulte Waregem. This will be seen as a blow to the Railwaymen efforts for next season, as they will have to replace a 16goal striker.
