McGivern: Looking to test himself

After signing for the Valiants yesterday on a two-year deal, defender Ryan McGivern, spoke to the media for the first time as a Port Vale player and he couldn’t hide his excitement to be at the club.

“As soon as I knew Port Vale were interested and I spoke to the manager here, I wanted to join because it seems like a good club. After spending time in Scotland with Hibernian where I had a great time with some great people, I wanted a new challenge so decided coming back to England would be a good thing for me.”

“I got 2 years worth of game time at Hibernian which has helped me improve, I’m now looking to come back to England and test myself further”

After only joining the squad yesterday there was no more rest for the Northern Ireland international who joined up with the squad today for the first day back in training. And the Defender who spent most of last year as a centre-back felt that it is beneficial to start with the rest of the squad.

“It’s nice to be here and get started, being with the squad from the start is good as you can get settled in as soon as possible, and the lads are helping with that as I already feel settled.”

With the Northern Ireland squad looking to qualify for the Euros in a group involving Greece, Hungary, Finland, Romania, Faroe Islands, Ryan feels that being in England where they play Tuesdays as well as, Weekends can only be beneficial.

On a final note Ryan said:

“I’m looking forward to a great season ahead and I’m looking to push on.”
