Boss pleased with run-out

Gaffer happy with players' attitude to pre-season so far

Vale boss Micky Adams was pleased with the form of Mark Marshall after his first game in a Vale shirts at Alsager last night.

The former Barnet winger who missed out at Newcastle Town at the weekend looked busy throughout the forty-five minutes he was on the pitch and bagged a decent goal to cap off his performance.

Adams said: “We like playing with wide players and what you demand from wide layers is that they put the ball into the box so that the centre forwards, particularly Popey, don’t have anything to moan about.

“He has got plenty of balls into the box today and that is all we want from him.

“It was a decent work-out on a difficult pitch but I think the attitude of the players was spot on again.

“I can’t fault the players pre-season, they have got on with their work. They know it is a means to an end and they have got to get on with it and I thought it was a good run out.”
