Page says Vale can work on the positives
Rob Pages says there were a lot of good things to come out of the game against Brighton on Saturday and despite the defeat there were plenty of positives.
He said: “We were disappointed with the way we conceded the goals because that’s not like us. We could have done a lot more about the second goal initially,
“When it leaves his boot he has crossed it and it has gone in the top corner. We are disappointed, but we can’t dwell on it, it’s gone, it’s history and we move on to the next game.
“In the final third, I thought they had the better quality – understandable because they are a Championship club pushing for promotion themselves.
“The structure of the football club, the facilities that they have got, they move into new training facilities in the next two or three months, so the foundations are there.
“They are pushing for the Premiership, but we have held our own against them in the two thirds, but in the final third, that’s when you could see the quality shine.
“They created more opportunities with the final pass, the final shot, whatever it was they had that quality to produce something at the end of a passing spell. At times we have done it, but that was the difference on Saturday.
“We will always take plusses out of every game. There will always be things to work on, but there are a lot of plusses that came out of the game.
“For us to hold our own against a Championship club pushing for promotion satisfied us. The only negatives were the goals we conceded, but we can work on it and move on.”
