Tom Pope & Sam Johnson Attend McDonald's Grand Opening

Duo Join Lord Mayor To Officially Open Restaurant

Port Vale duo Tom Pope and Sam Johnson attended the grand opening of the new McDonald's in Norton on Wednesday morning.

The striker and goalkeeper were on hand to join Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent Majid Khan to officially declare the fast-food restaurant open for business.

The Norton branch is one of only four new McDonald's restaurants in the country to feature automated, touch-screen order systems.

Pope and Johnson posed for photographs for the local press as well as with members of staff and even went behind the counter.

The event signalled the start of what the club hopes will be a beneficial relationship with the world-renowned, fast-food chain.

Ryan McKnight, the club’s commercial consultant, said: “McDonald's are a major, local employer and exactly the kind of organisation we want to be doing more with.

“I think it’s fantastic for the region that we have one of only four of these new McDonald's restaurants.

“We will definitely be looking to help them promote the store and their community work in the future.”
