Midfielder Speaks To Press After Win

  • Goalscorer delighted to have broken his duck
  • Dodds scored second goal of 2-1 win at Crawley
  • Hoping now to kick on and find back of net more often

Port Vale midfielder Louis Dodds has expressed his relief aft er scoring his first goal of the season during the win over Crawley Town on Saturday.

“Ben puts in a massive effort and he sacrifices himself in a lot of games. I think he’s unbelievable."

Dodds also spoke of his enjoyment at playing up front with Ben Williamson, saying: “It was nice to link up with Ben. I enjoyed playing with him.

"Hopefully that’s given him a problem and I can start again against Sheffield United.”

“I think when you score, you’re almost banging on the gaffer’s door and saying ‘I scored, I need to play again'," he added.

Dodds also hopes that by breaking his duck this season he can be rewarded with a run in the side.

"I think you could see the relief on my face when I scored and hopefully that will have the snowball effect."

Speaking to the press, he said: “It’s one of those things. If you play up front and you’re not scoring, it starts chewing away at you a little bit.

The 28-year-old struck the second goal of the game as the Valiants ran out 2-1 winners at the Broadfield Stadium.
