After a great start to the season, especially with a great feeling emanating from the dressing room, Richard Duffy believes confidence is so high that they can get something out of every game.
Duffy said: “From the inside of the camp we weren’t surprised at all by the game on Saturday.
“We are confident that every game we go into we can pick up good results. Away from home we were a little disappointed last year, but amongst the squad we were confident going to Doncaster after the start we’ve had.
“I think maybe a few fans would have doubted us being able to go there and get a win, but that’s what we did and it was thoroughly deserved.”
Vale face Oldham Athletic, who are yet to win a match this season, but will be looking to get their season off with three points against the Valiants.
Duffy feels that if the squad goes into the game like they did on Saturday, there is no reason they won’t get something out of it.
He explained: “I think as the home side the impetus is always on you to get something out of the game. They had a disappointing game on Saturday against Leyton Orient.
“That means they’ll come out of the traps firing tomorrow, just like Doncaster did at the weekend, but we’ll go out there with a game plan. That will be to see it through the first 20 minutes and see where the game goes from there.
“We’ve got a good squad here and time will tell how well we do in the league, but we’ve got off to a good start. We feel confident though.”
Duffy feels that the strength of the squad, not just in the starting eleven, but every player that is pushing for a place will help the team collect results.
He continued: “We have depth here, so if you’re not doing your job properly the manager has the right to switch it because he has players that can come in and do the exact same job.
“I think it’s important we have that strength in depth, because everyone will be needed at some point during the season.
“We have games coming thick and fast, so I’m sure they’ll all be used at some point.”
