Dickinson: "Everyone Dug In"

Carl Dickinson believes that Saturday’s win against title hopefuls Doncaster Rovers was a great win, especially for the team performance that went with it.

Dickinson said: “It was a good one all-round; I think it was a great team performance and we got the first three points on the board as well.

“In the past we have been a bit poor away from home to be honest, so it was nice to start the first away game with a win.”

Dicko admitted Manager Micky Adams was delighted with the win, but believes they can’t get carried away and need to perform again tomorrow against Oldham Athletic.

He explained: “Micky was pleased with the performance, but we all know it’s early doors, so we need to go again on Tuesday night away at Oldham. We need to knuckle down and get another good performance.

“For me away from home, Doncaster on Saturday and Crawley last season were definitely two of the best performances I’ve seen us play.

“The work ethic from everyone was one of the main things about the game on Saturday. It was a great team performance, everyone dug in.”

Dicko had great praise for his defensive teammate Richard Duffy, who he believes is a great catalyst for the squad, especially for his central defensive partners.

He continued: “I think you can play anyone with Duffy and he’ll talk people through it.

“I don’t think Ryan (McGivern) has played that many game in centre-half, but he looks as if he’s played there all season.”

“I think a good thing with this squad is that anyone that comes in will work hard for the squad and do well.”
