A look ahead to tonight's Capital One Cup tie
Vale take a short break from League One action this evening when they take on Championship outfit Cardiff City here at Vale Park in the Capital One Cup.
Although the League will be Micky Adams’ main concern, he is well aware that a victory tonight could mean a big money draw in the next round of the competition.
He has already said he will make changes to the team, but says that has nothing at all to do with Saturday’s home defeat to Notts County.
The lack of fixtures so far for Vale Reserves means several of the first tem squad are still without a game and the Vale boss sees this as the perfect opportunity to put that right.
Micky certainly doesn’t see that as Vale putting out a weakened side in any way shape or form, as he believes he has enough quality right through the squad.
In the last round against Coventry City, Ole Gunnar Solksjar did a similar thing and still won the game. Again, the Norwegian believes he has plenty of quality in his squad.
That is no surprise really as he still has a good number of players who were playing Premier League Football last season and he wants to make sure he keeps them all happy.
Vale have no injury concerns, but the likes of Colin Daniel, Steve Jennings, Michael Brown and Chris Neal could all be called upon for tonight’s game.
