Knott aiming high

Midfielder playing for more than a contract

Billy Knott knows he is playing for his future between now and the end of the season, whether that be with Port Vale or a club elsewhere.

It is fair to say the supporters have been impressed by the diminutive midfielder’s performances in a Vale shirt and he would certainly be a welcome addition to the squad.

In the meantime, Knott is concentrating on Vale’s points total and says a good finish to the season is a must for the Valiants and he hasn’t totally ruled out a play-off spot.

He said: “I think Peterborough are running away with it now but we have got to finish as high as we can and we have to focus on the two games coming up on Friday and Monday.

“We go into Friday’s game free to play really – we want to finish as high as we can, but I don’t think we can get into the play-offs, looking at it realistically at the moment.

“But we have got to do what we do and go into Friday and play against a good team who are up there in and around and we want to finish above them, so three points would be massive.

“It is a bit unrealistic for us at the moment because Peterborough are doing so well, but with a couple of wins, you never know what can happen in this league.

“We will go into Friday’s game doing our best, giving it one hundred per cent and hopefully we can come away with a big three points.”
