Shop opening success

Chairman keen to build the brand

Today Port Vale officially opened the new shop in the Potteries shopping centre in Hanley.

Amongst the numerous fans who came to see the ribbon be cut by Manager Micky Adams and Chairman Norman Smurthwaite were ex Port Vale players, Terry Miles and Colin Askey. Both players played at The Old Recreation Ground when it was Port Vale's ground.

We would like to thank both Terry Miles and Colin Askey for their attendance at  the shop opening.

Boomer was also at the event greeting fans and showing off his Port Vale merchandise.

Norman Smurthwaite had this to say, "We are trying to bring something back to the people so that they can see we are trying to accommodate people to try to bring them back to the club.

"We need to rebuild the brand and get it out there and get people excited about the brand and hopefully them they will follow the team.

"We are a community team and are trying to get back out in the community.

"We are driving the name, driving the brand because we are trying to get back out into the community.

"At the infancy if we can get (fans) young enough then clearly if they are in the vicinity of the football club they should be attending.

"I've tried to brand ourselves everywhere so that fans say Port Vale I want to be associated I want to go watch it!"

Port Vale now offer more packages to welcome families into the club.
