But Hugill is looking forward to the Crewe game whether or not he starts.
Jordan Hugill has his feet planted firmly on the ground after netting his first ever league goal last weekend and although he is hopeful, he realises he may have to be patient for another start.
But whether he gets his chance on Saturday against Crewe Alexandra or not, he is determined to enjoy the day and the atmosphere generated by the visiting supporters.
He says: “It would be lovely to start in a local derby, it would be the first one I have ever played in so it would be good for me and I would just take everything on board.
“I am sure the fans will be up for it as much as the lads will be up for it and I am just looking forward to the game whether or not I start.
“I used to have a Middlesbrough season ticket and we used to have the Newcastle derby games and the Sunderland derbies and the atmosphere of the whole day is fantastic.
“It is great from before the game, during the game and even after the game - if you win then everyone around the town is buzzing so I am really looking forward to it.
“I may or may not start the game , but either way, Micky Adams has put a lot of trust in me and I am not the kind of person to let people down and he is the one person I don’t want to let down.
“He has been on my side since I went to Gateshead, he’s put a lot of faith in me and I am just trying to repay him.
“He has told me I have to keep working hard off the pitch as well as off the pitch – I am doing that and I am going to carry on doing that as well.
“He is the right person to help me develop because he keeps pushing me, he knows what I can do now and there are parts of my game that I need to work on and he will keep pushing me to work on it.”
