INJURY DOUBTS

Vale have injury worries over two key players ahead of the Southend match

Vale have injury worries to two key defenders going into Saturday’s home game against Southend United with each of the two full backs currently in Micky Adams’ starting eleven doubtful for the game against the Shrimpers.

The Vale boss said today: “Daniel Jones looks as though he has tweaked his knee ligament – he did well to get through the second half of the game on Tuesday against Bradford.

“Richard Duffy has tweaked his ankle ligament. Once again he looked at half time like he may struggle, but I thought that he manfully carried on and did very, very well, particularly in the second half with some of his defending. Both of those players have not trained today.

“We had a reserve game against Wrexham and a lot of the senior boys played in that, but there is no real injury news on that front, so we will have to assess everybody leading right up to the game.

“Daniel Jones and Richard Duffy haven’t trained on Thursday but whether or not they train on Friday, we will give them as long as we can, but they must remain doubtful.

“We have got options, but I would rather my two main line full backs be ready and available for me.”
