Myrie-Williams raring to go

Winger feeling sharp with 12 days to go

Winger Jennison Myrie-Williams is feeling sharp and raring to go as the season draws ever closer.

25-year-old Myrie-Williams created the only Vale goal of the match against Kidderminster Harriers, with his goal-bound shot taking a heavy deflection to beat the Kidderminster goalkeepr.

The former Bristol City player believes he is in good shape going into the League 1 season.

“Pre-season is going great, I am feeling quite sharp so it was good to get 90 minutes in against Kidderminster, and I felt good after the 90 minutes, so I’m in good shape,” he told Valiant Player.

With 12 days to go until the big kick-off against Brentford at Vale on August 3 Myrie-Williams is confident Vale’s work this pre-season will help them later on in the campaign.

He said: “Pre-season is always quite tough, it is never easy and I think that is always a good sign, because you are working yourself hard.

“I’m enjoying it but it has been quite tough.”

The winger scored 11 goals in all competitions last season and with the additions of Kaid Mohamed and Gavin Tomlin there will be plenty of competition in the wide areas.

Myrie-Williams is aware that manager Micky Adams maybe be formulating ideas about his starting line-up come August 3 and he is determined to be in the first 11.

“I can’t wait for that game (Leicester City), it’s getting close to the season now, this is more the time where we starting picking the team to start the season and everyone wants to be in the team,” he said.

With maybe some of the more intense fitness work already done this pre-season Myrie-Williams can never be to sure with manager Micky Adams whether the intensity and fitness work will taper down or not.

He joked: “The last week, well you’d think the last week but you never know with the gaffer but we’d like to think the last week or two we will tone it down a bit and play a bit more football.

“It has been going alright, we’ve done our running and played our football.”

Port Vale would like to kindly remind supporters to purchase their Leicester City friendly ticket for the upcoming friendly at Vale Park prior to the match as Vale will again be using a new ticketing system.

Tickets for the the friendly will be available from the new Ticket Office located inside the new Club Shop.

The fixture represent the second match that will incorporate the new all-ticket scanning system installed at Vale Park, with the new system proving a huge success against Derby County last week.

The new system will see supporters scan their tickets using a unique barcode at the turnstile to gain entry to the ground.

You will now no longer be able to pay at the turnstile and will now have to purchase your tickets in advance either on the day at the Ticket Office or prior to the match at the Ticket Office.
