Jones back in training

Jones could be in contention for opening fixture

Defender Daniel Jones trained for the first time in while this morning and Mark Grew is hopeful the former Sheffield Wednesday man will be in contention for a starting place come the big kick off at the weekend.
Vale face Brentford here at Vale Park and it is looking like there is real competition for places all over the park, something that pleases Vale’s Assistant Manager.
Grew says: “Most of the lads are back in training now - even Daniel Jones trained this morning so that was a big plus for us. He has got through his first training session for some time.
“He is a fit lad anyway, so we will see how he gets on tomorrow. It’s a bit early to play him at Stafford tonight, but that gives us options for Saturday.”
He may not be ready for a run-out at Stafford along with Sam Johnson, Liam Chilvers and Ryan Lloyd, but Grew is hopeful Jones will be fit and raring to go at the weekend.
Grew continued: “If he trains all week then he will be in the running for Saturday’s game here at Vale Park against Brentford.”
