Gaffer Disappointed

Adams not too happy with first half performance

Micky Adams was not too happy with last night’s first half performance against Leicester City and revealed Vale will now be sending a first team squad to face Leek Town this weekend.

Vale are due to take on Alfreton Town on Saturday and were originally sending the youth team to play against Leek, but will now split the first team squad between the two matches.

The Vale boss said: “It was another good work out but I was disappointed with the first half performance and the goal we conceded, but all in all it’s another pre-season game ticked off and we move on and the season can’t come quick enough.

“The injury situation doesn’t look good at the moment, but a week on Saturday when we face Brentford at home they should be closer to full fitness.

“There are players at the moment who are playing with niggles and the one thing we don’t want to do is risk them in a pre-season friendly.

“Liam Chilvers missed Monday’s training session ad performed for forty-five minutes against Leicester, so I am pleased with that, but I can’t really give an update on any of the others.

“All I know is we have a game at Alfreton on Saturday and we also have a game at Leek, so we are going to use that to give  every member of the first team squad that is fit a ninety minute run out.

“There will be no forty-five minute rest, it will be a ninety-minute game either at Alfreton or at Leek Town, so we have two decent games.”
