SKIPPER WANTS MORE

Loft looking for more from his team mates

Skipper Doug Loft is demanding total concentration between now and the end of the season and says it is important to get our home form right, starting with the visit of Accrington Stanley this weekend.

Loft thought we deserved more than a point from the 2-2 draw at Wimbledon on Thursday but feels maximum return from Vale’s next home fixture would go a long way to make up for the frustration experienced against the Dons.

He said: “I was a bit disappointed to come away from Wimbledon with just one point, but we have now got to look ahead to the game against Accrington on Saturday and try to get three points from that game.

“Accrington have put some experienced players into their team since we played them back in August. They are always a very hard team to play against so we know it is going to be a very tough game.

“We owe them one from earlier on in the season when they beat us at their place so it is a big game and hopefully we will do well in front of our own supporters.

“The manager has said recently that nobody is assured of their place in the side and that’s the way it has got to be.

“We’ve got a very good squad and there are a lot of people knocking on the door who want to play. Everybody has got competition for places and so everybody has got to be at the top of their game

“I think we have got the best squad in the league and I think we have got a good chance. We have got to keep doing what we have been doing from now until the end of the season.”
