VALE GET IT RIGHT SAYS BURGE

Midfielder happy with the training at the club

Ryan Burge feels Vale are on course to achieve their aims this season and says fitness has played a big part in how things have gone so far.

The midfielder feels that there are times when the training should be a bit more relaxed as players look to recuperate and he says vale have got the balance right.

He said: “We have taken seven points out of nine and before the games were played I think everyone would have taken that. We have just got to maintain the form now until the end of the season.

“People say we dropped two points at Barnet, but I think it was a good point to be honest. They have brought in some good players now.

“They tried to pack the midfield and had a lot of the ball but they didn’t have that cutting edge, whilst we defended well and we are happy with that point.

“We have had three hard games in eight days and we are happy to have a bit of a break this week. The pitches are very heavy at the moment so it is going to take it out on people, so to not have a game this week is probably a good thing.

“Obviously the training sessions have to be planned carefully. You don’t want t work too hard, but then again you don’t want to not do enough either, so you’ve got the get the training just right and I think we are doing that.

“On a personal note, the main thing for me this season was to be able to be consistent and try to play week in week out and I have been doing that and I want to keep that going.

“The levels of fitness here have helped a lot. We work hard at this club – I have been to other clubs and they don’t do as much on the physical side. When we need to run, we run, but obviously you can’t beat match fitness.”
