More players added to the squad for AFC Wimbledon match

Vale face AFC Wimbledon here at Vale Park tomorrow night and boss Micky Adams has been able to add to his squad this week with the return of several players who have been out injured.

Louis Dodds and Joe Davis have both trained today, along with Rob Taylor, and the three of them are back in the squad and in contention for a place tomorrow night against AFC Wimbledon.

John McCombe has been out for several weeks with a medial ligament injury, but Mark Grew feels the defender won’t be too long before he too steps up his training.

He said: “He actually came down on to the training pitch this morning, but it’s a case of wait and see for him. He will up his training and then we will have to see what he is like the next morning.

“We are not one hundred per cent clear on the time scale with John, but it is nice to see him down on the training ground again.

“John has been a big part of this squad and the team all season and it is nice to get him back – or at least thereabouts.

“He is our vice-captain and he has captained the side a few times this season. He is influential even when he’s not playing, he comes into the dressing room and wishes the lads all the best.”
