Defender has faith in the players here at Vale Park
Defender Daniel Jones isn’t too downhearted following Saturday’s home defeat to Morecame and he says the lads must now come out fighting and show everybody what they are made of.
He said: “I thought we kept the ball well, knocked it around well and created a lot of chances, but it was just one of those days where their ‘keeper has pulled off one or two good saves.
“The manager has told us to keep our heads up. We’ve got six games in three weeks coming up and that’s massively important so we have to remain positive.
“As I saw it, we created enough chances to win the game on Saturday, so we have just got to stick them in the back of the net now.
“We have got to take the positives from the game and not be disheartened by the defeat and come out fighting.
“We had a couple kicked off the line on Saturday and we went close at Barnet in our previous game when we hit the woodwork.
“We are doing everything right apart from putting the ball in the back of the net , but it will come, we’ve got too good a team not to score goals.”
Jones has settled in quickly since his move to Vale park in January and he has put that down to the way he has been treated by players and staff alike.
“I’m really enjoying it here. The manager and the coaching staff have made me feel welcome and the players are a really good bunch of lads and the style of football we are playing suits me down to the ground.
“This is the best footballing team that I have played in for a long, long time. We have a lot of good ball players in the team and we love to pass the ball.
“We are direct at times, and by that I don’t mean just lumping the ball forward, we play it wide and we have got two good wingers who get the ball into the box for the strikers.
“The midfield knock the ball around well and we would be a match for anyone in League One should we achieve our ultimate aim come the end of the season.”
