On a tightrope

Yellow cards could prove to be a problem

With the busy Christmas period coming up, Vale have three players – Anthony Griffith, Chris Lines and Jennison Myrie-Wiliams all walking on a tightrope after picking up four yellow cards.

One more booking for any of them and they not only face a ban, but as manager Micky Adams has pointed out, a struggle to get back in the side.

The Vale boss said: “I didn’t know the stats but certainly it would be a worry if they all picked up the next yellow card in one game, but as a professional you can’t think about that.

“We have got to cut out some of the silly bookings. Jennison’s booking on Saturday was a little bit silly – he’s got a great body and I don’t know who he was showing that off to.

“But it’s a cheap booking and those types of bookings are easily avoidable. If he gets another  booking and then loses his place in the side, that is the ultimate punishment.

“If they get booked for tackles and they are genuine attempts o play the ball then I have never got a problem with it.

“We have to be competitive for sure, but as I have said before, five bookings, you are out of the team, you lose your place and it can be a problem getting back in the side, so they have got something to think about”
