Defender can't wait to get out there
Vale defender Carl Dickinson is ready for another tough game this evening when Vale take on Salisbury City in the second round of the FA Cup, but feels Vale should have enough to progress in the competition.
Although he feels the FA Cup is a special competition, he is just happy to be playing football and he will, as usual, show that in his performance tonight.
He said: “I like any game to be honest with you, I am just happy to be out there on the pitch, but it is always nice to be playing in the cup games.
“The main thing is we want to get our name in the hat for the next round and see where we go from there.
“I am really looking forward to it. We need to get off to a good start and get out of the traps quickly, because we don’t want to be embarrassed.
“It’s another chance to go out and show what we can do against lower league opposition and we need to make sure we are on our game because they have got nothing to lose.
“I am sure they will be coming here trying to cause an upset, so we need to be on our game and make sure we do the things that we do well and make sure we get our names in the hat for the nest round.
“You have to make sure that you are ready. You have to prepare like you do for any other game and we just have to make sure we do a professional job.
“We have to make sure we do the right things and I think if we do that and make sure that we stop them from playing, because from the video we have seen they do like to pass the ball around a bit, so if we can stop them playing and make sure we do the right jobs then hopefully we can get the right result.
“We know what players are their danger men and how they like to play, so whichever formation they choose to play we will make sure we are ready for it.”
