Dickinson sums up the mood

All eyes on the Notts County fixture now

Carl Dickinson summed up the mood of the camp after the defeat to MK Dons at the weekend but says the players must put that result behind them now.

The next game takes place here at Vale Park on Boxing Day (Thursday) and the layers must concentrate on putting it right in front of the home supporters.

He said: “It was a case of two set-pieces two goals – we didn’t deal with it, the lad shot from 30 yards out and we didn’t deal with it, the second one the lad has hit it on the edge of the box and we didn’t deal with that.

“I am really disappointed to be honest with you because we have been on a really good run and we wanted to show what we are all about.

“In the first half we didn’t get going and we just couldn’t seem to get to grips with their formation. They had players all over the place and we couldn’t get hold of it.

“Towards the end of the first half we managed to get more of a grip on it and in the second half it was a lot better, but you are three-nil down and it is near enough dead and buried.

“It was always going to be difficult but I am gutted because I think in the first half that was one of our poorest we have played this season.

“We have just lost a game of football and we don’t want to be losing games, but there is a game coming quickly, so we need to put it right then.

“We need to sort it out ourselves and we need to sort it quickly. On Boxing Day we need to come out firing and making sure we go straight for the gullet.

We need to dust ourselves off, forget about it quickly and make sure we get ready for Notts County now.”
