Ben makes an impact

Striker can make a big difference

Ben Williamson wants a regular starting place in the side like anybody else, but he accepts he can make a big impact coming off the bench when sides are not ready for his pace.

He make his mark when coming on as a substitute in Vale’s 4-1 win over Salisbury City on Friday night to help seal a place in the third round of the FA Cup.

Vale were well prepared for the game, but perhaps didn’t put perform to their maximum, but the important thing was to win the game and progress in the FA Cup.

Ben said: “It was never going to be easy, no matter who we played and they were a non-league team coming here with nothing to lose, they were not expected to win.

“All of the pressure was on us really so it was nice to get the second goal which killed them off, and then we managed to go on and get four.

“When I play it is a bit different to when Gavin Tomlin or Louis Dodds plays up front, they like to get on the ball while I do the opposite.

“I try and get in behind defences so it mixes it up and defences are not ready for it when you come off the bench and it makes an impact.”
