Captain concentrating on Vale
Vale captain Doug Loft is ready to feel the buzz of Vale Park when Wolves travel Burslem tomorrow.
A large crowd is expected when Wolves, who have been dubbed the league favourites arrive tomorrow and Loft admits he’s rather excited by the big game atmosphere tomorrow is likely to bring.
Loft said: “I enjoy the big games, I get the buzz from them, and it is the games that everyone wants to play in.
“If you don’t like playing in these ones then there is no point in playing football.”
Vale have been training everyday this week, including Sunday after manager Micky Adams cancelled the day off.
Loft believes the extended preparation going into tomorrow’s match will stand them in good stead tomorrow.
“It has been a hard week, we have been in every day and everyone was disappointed after Saturday.
“We’ve worked hard this week in training and we want to put it right on Saturday.
“We’ve worked on things in training for the game on Saturday and hopefully we’ll go in well prepared,” Loft explained.
Vale host a side who two years ago were playing Premier League football, Wolves travelled to Villa Park to play Aston Villa this time two-years ago and after back-to-back relegations find themselves in SkyBet League 1.
Loft is confident Vale can match them.
“We have got enough down there in the dressing room to cope with it and go out and do well.
“It is a big game for the club, they were in the Premier League a few years ago, there will be a lot of fans and it will be a great atmosphere.”
A near sell-out crowd is expected at Vale Park and Loft is eager to put on a show for the home fans.
“Hopefully we can go out and put on a good show for our fans.
“Whatever team the gaffer picks I am sure we’ll go out and give 100 percent.
“They’re probably favourites for the league but I am concentrating on us to be honest with you.”
