Player of the Season Dinner Awards
Tom Pope has capped off a magnificent season by being voted Port Vale’s Player of the Year.
The striker, who has netted 33 goals during the 12-13 campaign, received the award at the Player of the Season Dinner at Vale Park this evening. Unsurprisingly, he also collected the Top Goalscorer trophy.
It has capped off a magnificent season for Pope, who received the prestigious Npower League Two Player of the Season Award at the Football League Awards in London last month.
It was also a successful evening for Chris Neal, who picked up two awards. Neal was voted as Away Travel Player of the Year by supporters but also picked up the Players’ Player of the Year Award – receiving the most votes from his team-mates to pick up the Trophy. Neal has been an ever-present in the League this season, playing all 46 games.
Fellow goalkeeper Sam Johnson was awarded the Young Player of the Year for his heroics between the sticks, while Doug Price – who was recently given a six-month professional contract – was presented the trophy for Youth Player of the Year. The winners were decided by the first-team coaching staff and Academy staff respectively.
The Goal of the Season went to Louis Dodds, for his strike away against Fleetwood Town in September 2012. The award was voted for by Port Vale supporters, who watched a video of the top ten strikes of the campaign through the official website.
