Boss reflects on an amazing season
Vale manager Micky Adams has declared his whole squad Player of the Year after Tom Pope scooped the Port Vale Player of the Year award last night.
The Vale manager reflected on a turbulent season which started with the club in administration and end with a third place finish and promotion to League One.
The Vale boss said: “They are all player of the year, even the ones that have played a very small part in what we've achieved this season.
“I thank them all, I'm proud of each and every one of them.”
“I've told the players I am going Magaluf with them this week which put a dampener on it for them,” joked Adams.
Although Vale have occupied the second spot for the majority of the season the 1-1 draw against Wycombe meant they dropped below Rotherham into third.
When we all sit back and relax over the summer we will reflect on a season which started in the most turbulent of circumstances. To think that it has ended in the clubs first promotion since 1994 would have been unimaginable in August 2012 but after nine months and 46 gruelling games we have done it.
Micky reflected: “I don't think there are many football clubs that have been through the traumas that we've had.
“We've come through the other end, the club is a more settled place now, I don't recommend administration for anybody because it effects peoples lives.”
Season Tickets are already on sale for next seasons League One campaign and the Vale manager has rightfully declared himself and his players League One quality.
Micky said: “We now have first division footballers and I am a first division manager which is great, we can all look forward to better times.
“There is a P by our name now and we can all enjoy it.”
