GAFFER POST-MATCH

Micky disappointed - but happy with the point

Whilst disappointed his team didn’t come away with maximum points against bottom-of-the-table Aldershot Town last night, Micky Adams saw it as a point gained, putting more pressure on Vale’s rivals.

Speaking after the match, Micky said: “I am disappointed obviously as the majority of our fans will be but it is another point, another one on the board to keep the unbeaten run going and we now move on to the next game.

“It certainly didn’t go as we planned, having said that you have to give credit to Aldershot, they deserve their point and really could have taken all three.

“It was nothing to do with the way Aldershot set up – they looked like they hadn’t had a game on Saturday and they were fresher than we were.

“My players looked leggy and as though they had over-celebrated their win against Burton, but we always knew it was going to be a difficult game.

“All the sound bites coming out of our place was that they were a team scrapping for survival and there was always going to be a lot of nerves involved.

“It wasn’t as open as the Burton game was and to be fair for them they came here and had a go.

“We have got to move on from this very quickly but the point has added pressure to the teams chasing us and they have all got difficult games at the weekend so we will see what transpires.”
