BOSS EXPECTING TOUGH ENCOUNTER

Adams praises the job Gary Rowett and his staff have done

Micky Adams is full of praise for the job Burton Albion boss Gary Rowett and his staff have done this season and he knows Friday night’s game against the Brewers is going to be a tough one for both sides.

“There is no knocking what Gary has done and he takes credit for that.” said the Vale boss.

“The infrastructure at Burton is good, they have a decent stadium and decent training facilities, because they are at St. Georges - so there’s no excuses there from their point of view - and they have some good players as well.

“I think always, whilst we congratulate Gary and his staff, it is about football players and it always will be. It’s about football players having a go.

“The expectancy on Burton players is not like it is on my players. Everybody says they have had a good season, and they have, but were they expected to do it? No they weren’t.

“Once they get into the promotion places, as they have been, then I suppose their focus changes.

“From being a side that nobody really talked about and fancied, they then have to produce results, and that pressure has got to them a little bit recently, and we can all associate with that.

“But when you look at their side, it has got good players in it at this level, and they are a match for anybody on their day.”
