For the record, non-league Vale beat Sheffield United 2-1 in an FA Cup replay back in February 1898 after holding the Blades to a 1-1 draw away from home three days earlier.

The two teams have only met once in the world’s biggest domestic Cup competition since then, when United beat Vale 2-1 at Vale Park back in March 1963.
